Remove Photo Location Data Before Sharing an Image

A photo can contain more than visible pixels. Before sharing an original image, inspect the metadata locally, decide whether it is appropriate to keep, then export a clean copy when it is not.

WHEN THIS HELPS

Useful for images taken on a phone or camera when location, camera or timestamp metadata should not accompany the shared file. The inspection and cleanup run entirely in the browser.

    Inspect the original locally

    Open the metadata viewer to see the available dimensions, format and privacy-relevant metadata without uploading the image.

  2. 02

    Create a clean sharing copy

    Use Remove EXIF to re-encode a new copy. Keep the original separately when you need its metadata for your own archive.

  3. 03

    Confirm the output you will share

    Inspect the clean copy again if the metadata matters. The workflow lets you choose the right file instead of assuming a platform will remove it for you.

Measure the file you chose, then decide.

The viewer reads the selected file in the browser and the cleanup creates a new local output. Your image content is not sent to a server during either step.
